The Mecc-concert 19-12-'99
I can't tell everything, but this is
are things that I can remember right now, of what I think that is interesting to
tell.....
After standing outside for hours, (it
snowed all the time), we went in and got good places, I went to the concert with
3 girlfriends (Lianne, Yvonne, Renate and Me), but outside we met other fans,
and we went inside with a group of 8 fans, and coudn't wait till it was half
past seven, and then the show began, they were a little to late, but that was at
other concerts also...... ,
it started with ;"I feel love", and
the fans and the Kellys were in a very good mood, I wound tell you all the
songs, because I can't remember them all, but what I missed was; "let my people
go", I thought that they would sing that too, but no...
Kathy wasn't there, (Paddy said in
viva-interactiv, that she would be there, but no, she wasn't), but Jimmy was
there, and that is what I was waiting for, and he sang beautiful,
When the unplugged session began,
they all were sitting on there chairs, and Paddy was busy, talking too Barby,
she was saying something too him, but he didn't understand it all, than Jimmy
came, and talked too Barby, he said something to a man in the back, and he came
back with a accordion, but that wasn't the good one, and he took it back, Paddy
said, that Barby, wanted to sing something, spontaneous, and the man in the
back, came back with another accordion, it took a while before Barby, had the
accordion, but then she started, in the start, a little bit clumpsy, but then it
all went well, Paddy started to try to go along with her on his gitar, and then
Jimmy with the congas, and Angelo and Patricia too, Joey started to, drumming on
his gitar, they did it all very soft, so that Barby could do her thing, how she
wanted too do it, John, began clapping in the rythym, and all the fans got along
with him, it was so beautiful,( the other kellys, hadn't hear this song either,)
and in the beginning of the song, you could see that they were a little bit
reserved, but later they laughed and played, and it all went so well, it was so
sweet, the fans went all crazy, when Barby began to sing louder, then softer,
than louder and so loud that she sreamed, than softer again, and the others
laughed, and played louder too, Barby was in a very good mood, and didn't stop,
she just sang futher, improvised a lot, it was a little bit jazzy kind of song,
when she finished her song, everybody screamed and clapped, her brothers and
sisters, clapped too, and they said too her that she had to stand up, so she got
to the front, and made a big bow, to the fans, she was so happy, it was the old
Barby again (I hope that it will be the next single)
I don't know if this song was for or
after the unplugged session, but it doesn't matter, I had heard that Barby,
Maite and Patricia woud sing the song; 'she got legs', and I have never heard
that song, when Maite began, I recognised it, it was 'Legs' from ZZ-Top, I have
an single of it of ZZ-Top, and this was really funny, normaly this song was sang
by 3 older men with long, really long beards, and now it was by 3 lovely girls,
but I thought that the song has real power now, and Maite Barby and patricia had
a lot of fun
What I didn't like on the whole
concert that my most wanted song; 'Good Neighbour' was only a little piece of
the song, and the power by that song, like it is on concerts in Germany, wasn't
here, that's a pity,( In Germany they all sing after the part 'WHO', Yah heeee,
and I have missed that a lot, it's a pity, )I hope that there is a concert in
Grefrath soon, so that I can go to Germany again..........
They also song; ' happy birthday to
Joey, and Patricia asked him how old that he was, but Joey just laughed, and he
didn't say it, and Patricia laughed at him,
John sang the beautiful song; 'when I
was in town', and I saw, that there were not many people who sang this song,
it's an old song, and I think that a lot of peolpe didn't know this
song
Patricia was in a good mood, and
laughed a lot on the concert, and sang as beautiful as ever, and together with
Jimmy..... they were so sweet.
Maite told told at the song; ' every
baby' that the song was for her mother and father, and that she missed her
mother a lot, and that her father was a mother and father to her, so she often
called him 'mapa', when she started to sing, you could see that she was crying,
and when Barby saw this, she began crying too, it was really touching,
What I thought what was a pity, that
was that they sang a lot of 'old' songs (from over the hump), just with a slower
rithme, when it was a little bit faster, it would be more power-kellys songs,
but the concert was great, after 25 years they have still a lot of fun
together
